Yvonne is an EBVS European and RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Internal Medicine with more than 25 years of experience in private referral hospitals across the UK and France. She is an internal medicine consultant for IDEXX Laboratories Ltd in the UK and also works in a busy referral practice in Angers, France.
In this webinar Yvonne will briefly review of the underlying pathophysiology of each condition:
- The DKA section covers recognition of clinical signs, key diagnostic criteria, and principles of emergency management, including fluid therapy, insulin administration, electrolyte monitoring, and identification of underlying triggers.
- The Addison’s disease section focuses on both typical and atypical presentations, emphasising the importance of recognising Addisonian crisis, interpreting electrolyte abnormalities, and initiating prompt stabilisation with fluids and glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid replacement.
- Throughout the webinar, practical decision-making, common pitfalls, and case-based examples are used to help you confidently recognise, stabilise, and manage these critical endocrine emergencies in practice.
