JASON BARCLAY – Jason qualified in 1985 and has worked in a mixed practice, at the RVC as a Research Fellow and the pharmaceutical industry before joining AFBI to work in diagnostic pathology. He is a past president of the Sheep Veterinary Society. Jason will be speaking on ‘Problems of the lamb before weaning’ & ‘Trace element deficiencies in sheep’.
EILEEN McCLOSKY – Eileen graduated from Queens with an Agriculture degree followed by an MSc in Ecological Management and Conservation Biology. Her PhD in Biological Sciences looked at grazing behaviour, diet and social interactions of traditional and non traditional sheep breeds on hill farms. Having worked as a livestock lecturer at SAC, she now works as sheep technologist with CAFRE. Eileen will be speaking on ‘Appropriate and cost effective ewe diets’.

Mike Kerby will be delivering lectures on subjects such as: ‘Differential diagnosis of and surgical approach to abdominal ping’, ‘Orthopaedic correction of fractures/locomotor conditions of cattle’ and ‘A surgical approach to correction of head tilt following Mycoplasma bovis infection’. Mike qualified from Bristol and since graduating Mike has worked exclusively in farm animal practice, and dairy practice since 1989. Mike joined Delaware in 1992 from Dorset, having previously worked for 4 years in Malmesbury, Wiltshire He received a Diploma in Bovine Reproduction from Liverpool University in 1994. His special areas of interest are all aspects of dairy heard health and production and especially bovine surgery.
Peter Edmondson is a dairy veterinarian with 35 years experience in practice and who runs ‘Udderwise’. He qualified from Dublin and spent 35 years in vet practice working in Ireland, the UK, Saudi Arabia. Through Udderwise he provides consultancy services in mastitis, milk quality and offers practical solutions to farmers, vets and the dairy industry.He has outstanding communication skills and is a frequent speaker at international conferences. He makes tailor made training for vets, farmers, technical and sales people in mastitis and other dairy topics and also works with the major pharmaceutical companies throughout the world in marketing & support, training, trial work, product launches and expert reports for product registration. Peter has written several books on mastitis and milk quality. Peters lectures will focus on ‘Mastitis theory’ and ‘Selective dry cow therapy’.
