• Wound types (aetiologies) and their relative risk factors for healing delay.
• 3 steps to optimal healing using Prepare, Promote, Protect – to include:
  • Skin preparation and wound lavage
  • Wound debridement and decontamination
  • Care of the granulating wound bed
  • Bandaging pitfalls that can compromise healing
  • The role of the ‘wound nurse’
  • The role of wound dressings and therapies in wound care – are they all necessary?
